Certified Naturopath Practitioner (CNP)

CNP is an approved certificate course by the Department of Health (DOH) and The Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC).


The needed hours for this certificate are a minimum of 2000 hours, 1500 of which will be didactic and the balance will be practicum. the PINS requirement to get this Certificate is so much more that what is required by PITAHC but we feel that in order to be fully qualified as a Naturopath Practitioner one should be well grounded in all the basic sciences and the various modalities used in natural healing.


The curriculum for this certificate is so well rounded that a graduate will definitely be an asset to the community and most especially to their own families and loved ones.

  • CNP 1010 BASIC ENTREPRENEURSHIP

    This course provides business and non-business majors with the skills necessary to succeed as an entrepreneur. The fundamentals of starting and operating a business, developing a business plan, obtaining financing, marketing a product or service and developing an effective accounting system will be covered.

  • CNP 1022 Basic Sciences 1: Biochemistry

    Biochemistry is branch of science concerned with the vital chemical substances and the physicochemical processes that occur within living organisms. The student Naturopath will be introduced on the philosophies and chemical concepts on with normal bodily processes involved in cellular nutrition and sustenance of life.

  • CNP 1023 Basic Sciences 2: Microbiology and Parasitology

    This is the study of microorganisms and  medical parasites which affect and impede human health and development. In particular the student naturopath with be concerned with the study of the causative factors/agents, prevention, control as well as be knowledgeable about signs and symptoms of infections, as well as available biomedical treatment of infectious disease.

  • CNP 1101 FUNDAMENTALS OF TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE

    Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), with a history of thousands of years, is the crystallization of the ancient Chinese people's experience in their struggle against diseases. It is also an integral part of their splendid culture. Under the influence and direction of classic Chinese philosophies, it has undergone long-term medical practice and infiltrated into, as well as absorbed from, other subjects at that time, thus gradually evolving into a unique medical theoretical system that contributed significantly to the health care of the Chinese people and the prosperity of the Chinese nation.


    This is a powerful course for anyone interested in the Differential Diagnosis of Traditional Chinese Medicine and it's uses today.


    Aromatherapists, Body workers, Massage therapists, and other wellness practitioners benefit from incorporating this holistic perspective of the human energetic systems. Through recognition of patterns, TCM describes disharmonies without diagnosing disease.  By studying this material, patients of TCM practitioners can increase their understanding of the perspective of Chinese medicine, and participate more fully in

  • CNP 1102 BASIC EAR ACUPUNCTURE AND TRAUMA MANAGEMENT

    Ear detox acupuncture and trauma management, is a course where the specific ear points is used by the methods of putting pressure on the ear. It is very helpful, very simple to learn and with a safe administration. In these course the student  will be able to learn develop and improve a practical skill and very useful in promoting healing.


    At the end of the course, the learner will be able to:

  • CNP 1201 HOMEPATHY AND TISSUE SALTS

    This subject refines students’ skills in acute homeopathic case taking and prescribing. The homeopathic laws of cure are reinforced and related to prognosis, recognition of recovery signs, remedy reactions and dosage considerations. Students analyze the data obtained when receiving a homeopathic case in terms of Hahnemannian homeopathy. Knowledge of the homeopathic materia medica is expanded and the use of homeopathic complexes is examined in relation to the body systems.

  • CNP 1302 OVERVIEW BODY MIND SPIRIT INTEGRATION

    This course will explain the mind-body medicine which  is based on the notion that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected—and that is essential to address the whole person to optimize health and well-being.


    The history of mind-body medicine dates back thousands of years when the mind, body, and spirit were integrated into medicine—as seen in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic, and other systems. About 300 years ago, Western medicine viewed the body as separate from the mind, and medicine began to view treating the body with specializations. While Western medicine is necessary and has successfully advanced the treatment of many diseases, more recent evidence-based research demonstrates the positive impact of mind-body medicine on health and wellbeing—such as, relaxation, intention, visualization, meditation, movement practices, social support, diet, and more. Mind-body medicine restores the patient to be an active participant in their own healing, fosters prevention and provides complementary practices with Western medicine to treat illnesses and diseases.

  • CNP 1304 SHENG ZHEN GONG (QIGONG)

    This course will help the students have a holistic system of coordinated body posture and movement, breathing, and meditation that promotes health, spirituality, and martial arts training. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is traditionally viewed as a practice to cultivate and balance qi (chi), translated as "life energy"

  • CNP 1305 REIKI

    This one day course is the beginning level of Reiki training. You will be able to give yourself Reiki, your family, friends and pets Reiki, or even expand to the community as a volunteer. The training consists of discussion, the Reiki Level I attunement, hands-on practice, and includes the course handbook "Reiki the Healing Touch" by William Lee Rand of the International Center for Reiki Training, and other course materials. 


    Objectives: Student will learn the history of Reiki, have a general understanding of chakras and aura, practice Reiki for self-treatment and treatment on others. You will be able to scan the body for energy. You will also learn how to give your animal companions Reiki.

  • CNP 1401 WELLNESS COUNSELLNG

    This course involves a paradigm shift from the pathology intervention model of mental health counseling. In the pathology intervention model, the emphasis is on evaluating, diagnosing, and treating psychological problems. Wellness counseling is more of prevention than intervention model, and involves imparting knowledge of overall good health in other areas than the psychological/emotional component. Wellness counseling integrates physical, social and spiritual health into the treatment model.


    The purpose of wellness counseling is to assist individuals to maximize their quality of life and longevity, by discarding poor health habits and adopting healthy day to day practices. It encompasses a variety of good health practices: exercise, fitness, nutrition, smoking cessation. Sleep and rest, journal writing, spirituality, and connection and attachment to others. A primary goal of wellness counseling is the prevention and management of diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular disease, as all three of these disease categories are significantly influenced by diet, physical activity level, and other lifestyle factors, as well as genetic predisposition.

  • CNP 1402 HYGIENE AND PUBLIC HEALTH

    This course provides a basic introduction to public health concepts and practice by examining the philosophy, purpose, history, organization, functions, tools, activities, and the results of public health practice at the national, state, and local levels. The course aims to stimulate interactions among students around important problems and issues facing the health of the nation and the world.

  • CNP 1500 INTRODUCTION TO ENVIRONMENTAL MEDICINE

    The course will begin with an overview of existing medical fields that deal with environmental chemicals to show where environmental medicine fits. The major families of chemical toxins will then be divided into those whose primary routes of exposure are via indoor air, outdoor air, and food. Within each chemical family the main health effects will be covered along with methods of testing. Biotransformation will then be addressed along with genetic polymorphisms in those pathways and nutrient impact. Cellular and systemic effects of toxins will then be covered to not only show the classic presentations, but also the biochemical mechanisms for their effects. The classic presentation of environmental illness will be covered along with taking an environmental history. The course will be rounded out with methods of treatments.

  • CNP 1601 FIRST AID, EMERGENCY CARE

    This course provides students with experiences to differentially diagnose signs, symptoms, and situations in acute medical care. Students learn to recognize emergency signs and situations involving various organ systems. Emphasis is on the integration of current allopathic drugs and procedures and the complementary practice of acute care by naturopathic physicians.

  • CNP 1602 NATUROPATHIC EMERGENCY MEDICINE

    This course provides students with insights into the theory and application of concepts related to the profession of Naturopathic Emergency Services, including airway maintenance, client assessment, management of trauma clients, management of various emergency cases.


    The Naturopathic Emergency Medicine core rotation is designed to introduce students to the principles of acute care services. Students have the opportunity to evaluate clients as well as formulate effective testing and therapeutic strategies. 


    Objectives:


    To understand the organization of Naturopathic Emergency Services.

    To establish and maintain clinical knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to quickly assess and manage emergencies.

    To perform a complete and appropriate assessment of acutely ill clients, i.e. a well-organized history and physical examination.

    To select appropriate investigations, including Natural Health Assessment Tool, with careful attention to client's safety, and interpret the results accurately and within its scientifically validated context.


    Differentiate assessment of common illnesses presenting to emergency department.

    To be familiar with the equipment and drugs used in emergencies and use naturopathic interventions in a safe, effective, appropriate and timely manner.


    Demonstrate proficient and appropriate use of procedural skills in a Naturopathic way

    Learning to establish good client-practitioner relationships in the acute care settings.

  • CNP 1701 INTRODUCTION TO CHIROPRACTIC MEDICINE

    This course offers training in a wide range of diagnostic and chiropractic manipulative skills in the context of anatomical, physiological and biomedical sciences. Chiropractors have the privilege of being able to positively impact people's lives through the provision of natural and non-invasive healthcare methods. They have a deep understanding of the body's structures and how each interacts to affect our health. Using spinal adjustments, manipulation and other physical means to improve neuro musculoskeletal function, chiropractors can help us live healthy and active lives.

  • CNP 1901 FUNDAMENTALS OF DANCE AND ART THERAPY

    The students learn the well-known fact that moving is good for the body and mind. The mental and emotional benefits of movement are plentiful. The same endorphins that make you feel better when moving also help you concentrate and sleep better, have more energy, and can help you become more resilient when faced with the mental or emotional challenges of life.


    Movement is emphasized as a mode of healing.

  • CNP 2001 ENVIRONMENTAL AND ENERGY MEDICINE

    Concepts of environmental and agricultural health are threaded throughout the Naturopathic Medicine Systems Modules. Environmental medicine is a multidisciplinary field involving medicine, environmental science, chemistry and others, overlapping with environmental pathology. It may be viewed as the medical branch of the broader field of environmental health

  • CNP 2002 INTRODUCTION TO BIODYNAMIC AGRICULTURE

    This course explores the comprehensive and cosmological methods behind the biodynamic farming movement inspired by Rudolf Steiner. A lab component includes the preparation and use of various biodynamic foliar sprays, compost preparations, and associated practices that contribute to soil health


    and stimulate plant vitality while enhancing the overall nutritional quality of food crops. An overview of requirements for biodynamic certification and ongoing research demonstrating the ecological benefits of biodynamic agriculture are provided.   

  • CNP 2003 PERMACULTURE 1 LECTURE/LAB

    This course introduces the concept of permaculture design and its role in integrating sustainable, regenerative systems into any landscape. Students learn how the core set of permaculture design principles and ethics guides every step of the design process — bringing in natural patterns, utilizing ecological principles, connecting design elements with function and utilizing natural energy sources. A lab explores pattern recognition, reading the landscape, flow diagrams, zone and sector analysis, data collecting, basic drafting skills, mapping and design exercises.

  • CNP 2004 PERMACULTURE 2 LECTURE/LAB

    This course focuses on how energy flows through natural systems, creating bio-geographical climate types and global weather patterns. Students learn about analogue climates, renewable energy systems, appropriate technology and permaculture design strategies specific to various climate types. Emphasis is on permaculture strategies for water management in rural or urban system. A lab introduces Keyline systems and earthworks, practical ways of assessing slope and techniques for trapping and storing energy. Tree pruning and grafting techniques are also introduced.

  • CNP 2005 PERMACULTURE 2 LECTURE/LAB

    This course focuses on land use systems for achieving self-reliance by integrating cultivated ecosystems, permaculture design techniques and agroforestry practices. Topics include establishing and maintaining medicinal and edible food forests; animals and insects in permaculture systems; wildlife management and agroforestry practices including windbreaks, hedgerows and alley cropping, silvo pasture, riparian buffers and forest farming. A lab explores practical elements plant guild assembly, orchard design, forest management, animal husbandry and beekeeping.

  • CNP 2006 ORGANIC SEED PRODUCTION

    Collecting seed from superior plant stock has been practiced for thousands of years, resulting in higher yields and bio regionally adapted plants. This course provides an overview of seed physiology and explores the importance of seed banks, as well as participatory plant breeding projects. Students learn the processes of preserving valuable genetic material — seed harvesting, seed cleaning/extraction, storage, viability and record keeping. Seed types, isolation distances and practical breeding techniques are discussed.

  • CNP 2007 ORGANIC GREENHOUSE AND NURSERY MANAGEMENT

    This course provides an overview of important techniques to insure plant health from seed to market. Through hands-on experience, students learn about plant propagation techniques, plant selection, potting media for various plant types and ways to balance the elements of soil, air, light, moisture and heat in the greenhouse. Ideas for establishing and maintaining a small scale landscape or market nursery are explored through site visits and guest instructors.

  • CNP 205 ANAMNESIS AND CLINICAL ASSESSMENT

    On this course students will be refining their intake, differential diagnosis, and assessment skills through group activities including practice cases performed in class. Included in the course will be a range of self-, peer-, and physician-rated assessments. Students will practice orally delivering a case in an appropriate and efficient manner and also practice charting skills. In addition, they will review administrative skills such as coding, complete clinical training modules for entry into clinic, and become familiarized with basic clinic procedures.

  • CNP 308 INTEGRATIVE SCLEROLOGY

    Sclerology is the adjunct science of Iridology, and both sciences evaluate health by analyzing different markings and colors in and around the eyes. Sclerology focuses on the red lines that are on the whites or sclera of the eye.  The various manifestations of these lines reveal the current conditions of a person’s health versus the markings of the eye as read in Iridology show the genetic predispositions. A good Naturopath should be able to read the signs that the body displays in order to know what is happening in the inside of the body.


    This course will help Health Practitioners give a  clearer and non-invasive health assessment and track client's treatment history simply by interpreting the red lines in the sclera.

  • CNP 309 EMOTIONAL IRIDOLLOGY

    This course is offered to students who have completed Iridollogy level 1 & 2 and Integrative Sclerology. It focuses on the emotional equivalent of markings in the eye based on various studies. Different body mind modalities are discussed too, to help solve the problem caused by emotions that may be causing physical problem.

  • CNP 310 APPLIED KINESIOLOGY

    This course serves as an introduction to applied kinesiology as taught by its founder, Dr. George Good heart. It is intended to give students a basic understanding of the methods utilized in this modality and instruction on how to apply these skills in clinical practice. Students who desire to study AK in further depth are encouraged to enroll in the certification course.

  • CNP 403 HYDROTHERAPY

    The course will present the therapeutic values of hydrotherapy-related modalities as employed in physical therapy management of various conditions referred to physical therapy departments. These applications will include cryo-therapy, cold and hot packs, paraffin-wax, pools, contrast baths among others. Issues concerning clarification of indications, contraindications, precautions and physiological effects of various forms of applications will be addressed.

  • CNP 603 INFANT MASSAGE

    Basic infant massage can soothe an anxious baby, and will provide all of the wonderful benefits that massage holds for adults. This home study continuing education course teaches simple routines for general massage, as well as exercises to stimulate muscle development and coordination in an infant. We also cover special situations such as colds, colic, hiccups, constipation, diarrhea, teething irritability and other conditions. This course focuses on teaching the techniques and are simple by design, meant to be used with confidence by non-massage therapists on their most precious asset - their new baby.

  • CNP 605 ROLFING

    This course will teach the student’s system of soft tissue manipulation and movement education that organizes the whole body in gravity. This course affects the body’s posture and structure by manipulating the myofascial system (connective tissue). Often considered a deep-tissue approach.  Rolfing bodywork actually works with all the layers of the body to ease strain patterns in the entire system. Research has demonstrated that Rolfing creates more efficient muscle use, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement. Rolfing has also been shown to significantly reduce chronic stress, reduce spinal curvature in subjects with lordosis (sway back), and enhance neurological functioning.

  • CNP 606 DORN OR BOWEN THERAPY

    The student will learn the form of holistic alternative therapy that claimed to be used to correct misalignments in the spinal column and other joints. In its theoretical approach, it is somewhat related to chiropractic and osteopathy, although it is different in its practical application. Early students of Dorn, like Helmuth Koch (who coined the name Dornmethode), Hildegard Steinhauser, and Harald Fleig, started to teach the method in the 1990s, enabling its use to spread in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Dorn intended for it to become a folk medicine, free from trademark or copyright so it was universally accessible.

  • CNP 608 PRECEPTORSHIP

    This course builds on the knowledge and skills obtained in the Naturopathic curriculum and integrate the curriculum concepts in varied/diverse practice settings. Synthesis of management, organizational culture and interpersonal relationship principles are applied with developing independence in the practice of naturopathy. This course facilitates the students' evaluation of principles and practices of the profession of naturopathy while assisting in the role transition to a practicing naturopath.

  • CNP 700 ADVANCE HERBOLOGY

    This subject builds on herbal medicine concepts introduced in  Herbology Level 1 and Eastern. Students continue to learn how to devise Western herbal therapeutic strategies and formulations for health conditions and theoretical cases. Students will explore herbal medicine therapeutic protocols relating to the nervous system, endocrine system, genitourinary system, male and female reproductive systems and treatment approaches for children and the elderly. Tutorials will apply this information to theoretical case studies.

  • CNP 701 HERBOLOGY 1

    This course provides the student with a nutritional profile of commonly used herbs and natural foods. These nutritional profiles of herbs provide the basis for analyzing traditional uses of each herb and the most popular herbal combinations and formulas. Students will learn the history and use of these herbs with the nutritional profile to explain and interpret many historical uses of herbs as foods and medicines. Herbal or Botanical Science is rapidly playing a major role in 21st century medicine and health care.

  • CNP 703 AROMATHERAPY 1

    The student will learn the history of aromatherapy, essential oils, A-Z listing of essential oils and their application, special use of essential oils in aromatherapy, and more.  


    Aromatherapy has proved to be highly successful in the alleviation and cure of many ailments. Aromatherapy works in two ways – the widely accepted benefits of body massage and the inhalation of essential oils reduce stress and improve the general state of health and well-being. This is a comforting, reassuring and healing therapy.

  • CNP 805 BASIC PHARMACOLOGY

    This course introduces the student to herbal photochemistry and pharmacology. Herbal concepts are explored including discussion of chemical complexity, synergy of medicinal plants and factors influencing the quality of herbal medicines. Students will explore the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics related to herbal medicines, and extend their knowledge of safety issues and interactions in relation to medicinal plants.
