This course will explain the mind-body medicine which is based on the notion that the mind, body, and spirit are interconnected—and that is essential to address the whole person to optimize health and well-being.
The history of mind-body medicine dates back thousands of years when the mind, body, and spirit were integrated into medicine—as seen in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic, and other systems. About 300 years ago, Western medicine viewed the body as separate from the mind, and medicine began to view treating the body with specializations. While Western medicine is necessary and has successfully advanced the treatment of many diseases, more recent evidence-based research demonstrates the positive impact of mind-body medicine on health and wellbeing—such as, relaxation, intention, visualization, meditation, movement practices, social support, diet, and more. Mind-body medicine restores the patient to be an active participant in their own healing, fosters prevention and provides complementary practices with Western medicine to treat illnesses and diseases.
The various therapies will explain in this course.
